Certain communities provide recycle. Other areas of the same time may not. Usually apartment complexes don’t offer the little bins that are found in suburbs. They will generally offer a separate large bin next to where you take your trash. I like to think I’ve enlightened past roommates and boyfriends on the perks of recycling. This type of recycling pertains to glass, plastic, cardboard, and paper, even aluminum. An additional form is recycling metals, like brass, steel, or copper, among other scrap metals. This type of recycling homes and construction businesses get paid when offering their left over metal. Getting paid to do something so simple seems worth it. Besides, I can’t say I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like making an extra dollar or two.

In Peru Buenaventura has had their road to the Orcopampa mine blocked by the local community who decided to renege on the current agreement they have with the company. Later in the week the community suspended the blockade and the company resumed production. The community and Mining Ministry are negotiating to ensure there is not a repeat of this in the future. Approximate losses to the company are pegged at 4,000 ounces or $3.8 million over the two days.

Silver may also be found in the unlikeliest of places. Look for it in mobile phones, circuit boards, worn out cameras, used-up electronics, and photographic plates. Scrap yards, school or office equipment upgrading, and thrift shop electronics are likely sources of silver.
