The first step – acknowledging you have a problem – is done, so what now? After all of the estimating has been done it is time to start measuring. Get out the scales and some measuring tapes and record the weight, circumference, height and width of each. Children can then record their results and see how accurate their estimates were.

Say aloud, “I hate you Math-Fear” and then, “I love you Math”. We are significantly worse at things we believe we are bad at, and although the initial idea may have been formed because we were actually not very good, the idea will continue to condition our skills until we stop being so negative. Have some extra items of currency to see which one of you can become the richest, by answering the problem correctly.
